Women in MMGF

The M. M. G Foundation will include in its aims and objectives a special focus on women. The Foundation acknowledges the role of the African woman on the Continent and in the Diaspora as an influencer at the level of the family and in the wider society.

Reference is made to the women in Marcus Garvey’s life, in particular his wives, who were active participants in the UNIA and the Black Star Line, as well as Pan Africanism. In this regard, the Foundation will ensure that women bring to the Foundation, their particular and multiple skills in health, education, information sharing and relationship building for Continental and Diasporan Africans.

Further, in keeping with Garvey’s drive for economic empowerment for Africans, the Foundation will promote and facilitate income-generating initiatives among women through capacity building in entrepreneurship and financial independence.
